Talika Eyelash Serum - A Final Verdict

My apologies for the long overdue verdict on the Talika Eyelash Serum. After using it for a loooooooooong time... I can only say that for SG$60 per tube, it is quite expensive for the result it offers.

Yes my eyelash did grow a bit longer but not to a great extend. Also, the resulting length is not due to any growth properties of the serum itself.

The main effect of the eyelash serum is making your natural lashes stronger so it will not drop as fast. According to studies (that I read somewhere on the net), the lifespan of eyelashes is 22 days. After which they will drop off and new eyelashes will grow. For the most of us, our eyelash will fall out faster due to rubbing, wearing contact lens etc so the full potential growth of our eyelashes is not achieved. This serum reduce the chances of breakage and the falling of our eyelashes so the maximum length is achieved.

In other words, the final result one achieves while using this serum is cap at the maximum length each individual's eyelash can naturally grow and not the result of the serum making it longer. If you are looking for Barbie/Anime lashes, stick to fake eyelashes.

Sprees and Frees

I have been on a crazy cosmetic spree lately. Getting cosmetics at the shop, online sprees and also getting free samples. Below are 2 packages I received yesterday.

The first package is some free samples that I got from fr3b. fr3b is a site where you can get free samples of products you want to try. They believe that everyone should get to try some samples before splurging on the full sized products so as not to waste money if the product is not suitable and I totally agree.

After you register, you will be awarded 6 points. You can 'redeem' sample products using these points and after receiving it, u can try the products and give your review on the site. Each review in turn gives you more points to redeem more things. Although they mention that you can try everything for free on the site, it is actually not 100% free. You need to pay a postage and handling fee. Which is a minimal fee. I paid $1.50 for these 3 products and after checking, I found that the postage is only $0.50 meaning $1.00 goes to handling. Actually this is not the first time I got samples from them. The first time round, because the package was damaged, I did not get to try a lot of the body moisturizer sample. I gave a review anyway coz you need more points to get more samples. I gave a truthful review though stating that the sample was damaged. This time round everything arrived safely. As I am on a Korea craze at the moment, I grabbed a few Korean products. The gowoonsesang repair serum is the cutest with a packaging that looks like a little bottle. Dr.Jart is also Korean. These two brands are develop by the dermalogical and plastic surgeons of Korea. Somehow I trust Korean cosmetics so I would love to try these out.

The second package is 2 lip balms from gowoonsesang that we (Linda and me) bought from JapaneseKoreanBeauty. The reason for getting this is because someone we know is using it so we decided to give it a try too. I will give my reviews soon. The seller very kindly sent a sample of the gowoonsesang brightening balm which is highly raved for me to try as well. It looks like a mini of the full sized one and has a strap to hang on your handphone. Cuteness!! The seller even wrote a thank you note. A very prompt and good seller.

Canon Ixus 95 IS

Yesterday, I went to Courts to get a new camera. The reason for buying is that my Powershot A80 is already dead for some months. The camera that I had been using is my dad's Samsung which we bought for him. However the quality really sucks. Another reason is although I know that my dad wants to use his camera sometimes, he will not bring it back to Malaysia because he wants me to be able to use the camera when I want to. So I think it is better to get a new one. Also there is a promotion during the weekend and I got the camera with a free camera case, a mini tripod, an LCD monitor cleaner and an 8GB imation flash drive all for SG$399. Quite a good deal I think. When I went to Courts JP, the salesman who was attending to me was quite unfriendly and gave me a 'you will not buy' look. I think its because I was wearing T-shirt, jeans and specs and look like my usual blur self (my brother was already telling me that this will happen before I left the house). I asked him what is the difference between the IXUS and the Powershot and he said its the same except the design and battery used.

Anyways, I decided to take a break and went for lunch with my grandma first and I called Ms U and also Zaq to ask about it (Ms U voted for Powershot and Zaq voted for IXUS). Den I went back to face Unfriendly Salesman again. I kept fidgetting with the camera as I am quite used to a Canon while he looked on. Then he walked off as I did not ask him anything else. Den Friendly Salesman appear and I asked him the same question. He was able to give me a few pointers so in the end I chose the IXUS.

The Canon Digital Ixus 95IS is kinda like Becky's camera (the picture and color quality is great). Only a newer model. I got a green one as usual.

Talika Eyelash Serum – An Update

Its time to give an update of the Talike Eyelash Serum. After 2 weeks of application religiously, I did see a slight growth in my eyelashes. However as usual I began to lag behind and became lazy so I did not use it everyday on my third week. Hence I feel that there was not much difference except I can see that the tip of most of the lashes has really fine growth. It is the growth?? Will it thicken?? Stay tuned...

Also I cannot seem to get the same angle shot from below as I am taking the photos by self.

Talika Eyelash Serum

Becky's sister Phoebe introduced an eyelash serum (Talika Lipocils - Eyelash Conditioner Gel) that is suppose to make the eyelashes grow thicker and longer. She is a beauty maestro and likes to try new products and she gives this product the thumbs up. Naturally I believe her and has been trying it out for 2 weeks now (suppose to see results in 28 days). I am supposed to apply it twice a day but I missed a few times. At the moment I can see that some of the eyelashes on my right eye is indeed getting a little longer!! The lower lashes also seem a little darker. I will keep using to see how it goes.

More photos coming up soon.

I can't be the only one who didn't know this!

Today I received a forwarded mail titled 'I can't be the only one who didn't know this!'. It's aimed at all the people who gets frustrated when they are using cling wrap and aluminum foil.

How many of us gets frustrated when we try to pull the foil/wrap out only to find the whole roll falling out of the box. Den we have to put the roll back into the box and grab the box tighter so that when we pull again the roll will stay inside??

How many times have we tried to tear the foil/wrap and the front part is ok but towards the back it gets longer and longer because the the roll keeps releasing the foil/wrap??

If you are reading and thinking to yourself. Me!! Me!! Me!! Then this photo is for you.

There is a small tab on the side of the foil/wrap and if you just push it, it will automatically lock the roll into place. After seeing this pic, my colleagues and I checked the foil in our pantry and true enough it is there!! Naturally we push the tab in to try it and it works!! And its been there like forever and all of us had never noticed it!! All together now... I can't be the only one who didn't know this! Please tell me you didn't know this too!!

Not all of the brands have it though. A quick check at home shows that Glad Baking Paper does not have the tab. I wonder if their other products have it...
