I really ate my bunnies...

Biscuits that is.

I bought this Sour Cream and Onion Bunnies Biscuit some time ago. They are organic and without trans fat. They are almost too cute to eat but I finally opened them as there was no point in buying them but not eating them (translate to the expiry is reaching).

They taste quite alright but I don't think they are 100% healthy as there was quite a bit of salt in it. Will buy again in future.

Instant Pasta

Backlog...

That day while browsing the supermarket, I chance upon a few instant pasta which I quickly snapped up. Usually I would buy the San Remo brand of instant pasta (to be cooked when I am too busy to cook from scratch) which is actually not instant as you still have to cook the pasta for a few minutes with the powder that comes with it but I would say that San Remo's taste good.

The 2 new types that I found are Velveeta Shells and Fantastic Carbonara.

Left bottom and right bottom pics is Velveeta. Small middle right pic is Fantastic.

For Velveeta, you also have to cook the shells and after it is cooked, you squeeze in the instant packet sauce that comes together in the box. The sauce looks like nacho sauce only thicker and it tastes gooood. I cooked mine with ham and sausages. My brother loves it so much that I have bought it again a few times for him. He cooks his with sausages.

For Fantastic Carbonara (it comes in other flavour too), you just have to put in the powder cheese and pour hot water into the cup and seal it for a while like instant noodles. But the taste is so different. Very salty and the macaroni is very thin. Not good at all. I will not buy this again.

Chicken... Pork... Chicken...

Tooks some time off for a little soul searching... Ok... Ok... I lie... Had been lazy but I am back now. :op

Backlog...

On 3rd April 2009, my good friend Ms U treated XL and me to chicken rice at Seah Street. This place serves traditional Chicken Rice and also Hainanese Pork Chops and is called Chin Chin Eating House. We ordered both the steamed chicken and roasted chicken with some chicken liver. I prefer the steamed version with lots of mince ginger and lots of sweet black sauce. Yumm!! This place also servers traditional Hainanese Pork Chops with potato. The sauce is too mild for me though as I prefer more tomatoey sauces. The potatoes are a yummy surprise.

Spaghetti

Spaghetti Bolognese that I cooked for dinner one day for my younger bro and me. As it's for my younger bro (the official food taster of the family), beef and spaghetti is used. If its for my older bro, then any kind of pasta and pork will be used because he and his wife does not eat beef. If it is for me only, then any kind of meat and fusilli will be used.

Verdict: Good.

Siapa mahu Ramli??

When we were young, every end of the year school holiday is spent in Penang at my grandparent's place. Every night without fail we will go to the corner shop to get supper of Ramli burgers. Its basically burger Malay style. We would always order the Burger Lembu Spesial (meaning Special Beef Burger).

The vendor will fry the patty with some curry powder and worcestershire sauce. Crack an egg and spread it really thin, put the patty in the middle and wrap the patty with the egg.

In Singapore, we can only get this Burger when there is a Pasar Malam. Whenever there is a Pasar Malam, I will surely buy one back for dinner.

Ah... The simple things in life...

Food made with love... and blood...

A few weeks ago, I went with my sis in law to the gynae. There is a weighing scale at the clinic but after we all took turns weighing ourselves, we all got a shock (actually denial is more the word to use). Because we found out that the weighing scale at home is not accurate and we all have to add 2kg to get our supposed weight!!

OMG!!! 2kg!! NO!!! 2kg!! *faintz...

So it is diet time for me again...

I made Caesar Salad for lunch one day and in my haste (coz I am late for work as usual) i accidentally cut my finger. It was very sudden and sharp. Blood flowed of course but luckily it was not painful. I used this new type of plaster from Watsons called Hydrocolloid plaster which is like a piece of rubber. It sticks on really tightly and was suppose to stay 7 days. You can see that after pasting you cannot even see the wound. I took the plaster out on the next day and it was so super sticky that I tore the wound again... *itchy backside* Lucky not pain again. *phew*

As usual I forgot to take photos of the actual food so I stole this pic from Martha Stewart's site. Mine is not as nice as hers (of course who can beat Martha right??). Mine is the usual anything goes unorthodox variety where I added hard boiled egg and crabstick.

Vietnamese Coffee and Drip

Knowing that I am a coffee freak (2-3 cups per day), my friend Linda bought me some coffee and a coffee drip from Vietnam. The coffee is really good!! It is quite strong but does not have the sour taste so it is very smooth and gentle on the stomach. The drip is so practical and easy to use.

Thank you Linda!!

Xmas 2008 - Company Buffet Lunch

Backlog...

Every Christmas, the boss at the company I am currently working in will treated employees to a nice meal. For 2008, it is a lunch buffet at Sheraton Hotel. It cost S$55++ per person but the food was not really as good as expected.

The buffet consist of the usual salad and cold dishes, bread and soup, sashimi, pasta, roasted meats, hot dishes like rice etc and last but not least desserts. We went with the traditional cold dishes and appetizers and slowly worked our way to dessert. The salad and stuff was good but the sashimi gave us quite a work out. Each time we went for sashimi, the chef would give us 3 pics of each type of fish we wanted. So we had to go back again and again if we wanted more. After the second time, I gave up as I became bored with making the journey to and from my chair to the sashimi counter (yes... yes... I am lazy...).

After finishing the soup which was ok, I went for the roasted meats (I skipped the chicken and went for the lamb) next but I was fooled by it looks as the meat was not tender and was quite hard to chew.

Den it was assorted hot dishes, some rice, vege etc and finally to my favourite which is dessert to finish it all. All the desserts I tried was nice except for something that I thot was a fruit cake. It was horrible. It was very dry had an industrial chemical taste.

As usual, I forgot to take photos... Sigh...

My boss brought along her daughter Anastasia who is a doll.

Mentaiko Pasta

Backlog...

Once upon a time, somewhere I can't remember, I tried Mentaiko Pasta for the first time. It's a classic Japanese take on Italian food. Mentaiko meaning Spicy Cod Roe (they are actually raw fish eggs). At first I thought it sounded gross but I was a sucker for anything in a cream sauce so I had to try it, after trying... I WAS IN LOVE!!!!!

As I had Mentaiko Pasta craving that night, I decided learn to cook some myself. I managed to get mentaiko at Meidi-ya at Liang courts so that I can cook it at home myself. This dish would probably cost about S$15.00 and above outside but I got the mentaiko at Meidi-ya for S$10.80. There are 2 mentaiko sacs in the box so I can have this twice. Also I bought japanese mayonnaise. After trying all the brands, I find that the Kewpie brand is the best. It can also be used to make California sushi as well as go with other japanese dishes. You can use regular mayonnaise if you want to but I think it is best when cooking to find more authentic ingredients. So jap ingredients for jap food and so on and so forth. In all this dish probably cost me maybe S$8 -S$9 and it was so easy to make!! Only took me about 20 mins to cook.

This is my version of called the Lazy Agak Agak Anything Goes Mentaiko Pasta (I threw in some bacon too).
