I really ate my bunnies...

Biscuits that is.

I bought this Sour Cream and Onion Bunnies Biscuit some time ago. They are organic and without trans fat. They are almost too cute to eat but I finally opened them as there was no point in buying them but not eating them (translate to the expiry is reaching).

They taste quite alright but I don't think they are 100% healthy as there was quite a bit of salt in it. Will buy again in future.

I ate my bunny...

It all happened when someone i know told me that there is a fried rabbit recipe so divine that after tasting it, nothing will taste the same again. After careful consideration and further persuasion, I decided to give up one of my bunnies to try out the recipe. Anyway I will still have one left.

I did not see my bunny being killed or getting cooked and the dish came to the table just like fried chicken. In cannot remember what my rabbit tasted like and which one I gave up because halfway through i felt so disgusted. I ran to the sink but I did not vomit. I started to cry and to wash my hands. I really regret giving one of them up but nothing I do now can bring it back... I can't even go to the cage as I am not sure which one I gave up!! OMG!! I can't believe it!! I really really regret it but it is too late now... I cannot bring it back!! OMG!! What did I do!!

Then I woke up... It was just a dream!!

I cannot believe I dreamt that. The feeling of regret was so strong. What is this dream trying to tell me? What's done cannot be undone so think properly before acting rashly??

I quickly went to hug my rabbits and to tell them that I will never ever do that. Never.

To cut the cake and slice the throat...

Yesterday – 30th March – is my brother's birthday. It started out as a normal working day. I wanted to sms him HAPPY BIRTHDAY but it was a very busy day so I forgot. In the evening, I met Ms U to shop around Tiong Bahru and we had Qiji and Mcdonalds before going to TS.

Suddenly I remembered I forgot to sms him and he answered in a sulking way that I had forgotten its his birthday and to make up for it I must get him a cake. Haha!! He was kidding of course (I suspect its just his way of officially getting to eat cake since he is a snacks glutton) but I bought a cake anyways. I got him the Bengawan Solo Mango Cake which is fast becoming the birthday cake of choice for everyone in my family. At home we had a little sing song cut cake ceremony and everyone had cake. Then we chatted and kid each other for a bit before retiring for the night.

If you think thats the end of my 'eventful' day then you are wrong. After cake, I went to the kitchen and was greeted by this sight...

My grandma had washed my Baobei doll and hung him by his ears on the window grill!! I rushed to touch it and the hair inside has become slightly clumpy and there is no Baobei smell anymore!! I stood there glued to the floor and I thought "Can I kill my grandma now?? Is this why seemingly normal people fly off the handle and gun down their family members in the middle of the night??" My brother came in to the kitchen and asked me what's wrong and I pointed at the doll and he goes 'Oh.. My condolences...".

I did not wake my grandma up of course. What's the use right?? What's done cannot be undone but I scolded her anyway this morning. She said that since my bunnies have bonded there is not use for the doll anymore and that he was really dirty with hair and hay. I said (without shouting I swear) "Meimei don't need it anymore but I want him for myself". She realised what she had done so she kept quiet. As for me... I really have nothing to say... Good intentions. Yes. Dumb act. Yes. Irreversible. Yes.

Bonding Day Infinity

After letting my bunnies out to interact with no casualties, I decided to just lump them together into Meimei's cage to see how it goes. At first there was butt sniffing and lots of chasing around. Den suddenly Meimei turn around and Didi...

... started grooming her!!

MY BUNNIES HAVE BONDED!!! Finally!! They are still trying to get used to living in the same area but they are bonded!!

To bond or not to bond... That is the question...

As I am typing this, I am letting my bunnies out to play simultaneously. Meaning at anytime they might snap and bite each other... Its been an hour now and so far so good. A few chasing around but no biting yet... Crossing my fingers... And toes... And anything else that is crossable... Bond... Please bond...

Potty for my new baby...

It must be made known that bunnies must eat a lot of hay for the good of their digestive track. Its been a few months since I got Lego and he is not a big hay fan. A few days after I got him, I bought a round metal hay rack for him so that he can eat and play at the same time. It did not work our really well of course as the hay kept falling onto the floor and makes a mess of everything.
First two pic is the hay rack which I will give to Jawskie. Dun waste it lying around unused mar... The third pic is my Meimei's potty and the big pic is Lego's rack now. I tied it down so he will not turn it over.

I went to Daiso to get the hay rack that I got for my Baobei and Meimei last time that can be clipped onto their potty (you cannot imagine how many potties I have changes in the course of finding the perfect potty and the one I have now for Meimei is perfect). But den I have to get the same size potty which is only sold at Adeline's place.

So now Lego have to make do with the smaller potty with the hay rack tied to the side of his enclosure until further notice (which means mama getting her lazy ass to Adeline's shop which hopefully is still open to get it). I also am putting this off because I still hope that they will get along one day and they can be moved to the same enclosure and share the same potty. If that happens, I will then have 2 potties. Hmmm...

As for their progress, I can say that they are now tolerating each other's presence and they don't mind grooming in front of each other which I am told is a good sign. My Meimei however is still snuggling and grooming the Baobei doll. Everyday...

Sigh... I miss him too...

Lego and the Papaya

Lego's hunt for the papaya tablet every night. I am putting it on my lap so he will trust me more. My Baobei used to love papaya tablet too.

There goes the music...

The main problems about having rabbits is you have to pay 100% attention when you let them out to play. They have a habit of chewing through any wires, furniture and newspaper they can get their teeth on.

This very thing happened to me yesterday when I let Lego out. He ran towards my computer which I was using on the floor, I blink my eye and snap! he bit through my earphone. No more music...

Didi ar didi... why must you bite through my one and only earphone?? Sigh... Time to get another one. Earphone that is...

Bonding Day Nth

This is the nth day of the bonding process. The bunnies are still fighting. My princess being the more jittery of the two. However she voluntarily lie beside the grill of Lego's enclosure. She can tolerate that as long as Lego does not come closer to her. She can come closer but not he. Sigh. Can I say girls are more troublesome even for rabbits??

There is definitely potential at happiness for the two. I just need to give them more time.

Girl girl mommy loves you very much. Please dun pee pee on me anymore. I am yours ok... Sigh...

Morty and her Pillow

My girl and her little pillow. My sis in law gave them this pillow. She dun usually sleep like that but it happens.

That night I missed my baobei so much I cried uncontrollably, that night she peed on me. I think she's telling that she is still there for me again.

After that she began peeing on me more esp after I play with Lego coz I think she is jealous of him.

It seems like they are beginning to bond. Sometimes my girl wants to lie by him and vice versa. But after a few seconds they fight. So crossing fingers...

Legolas the Elf

Introducing for the first time ever... Legolas!! My new bunny!!

What did you say?? He looks just like Abraham?? Wahaha!! That's because he is Abraham!! I have decided to adopt him despite the fact that my Girl still hates him although I am sure she appreciates having him there (on the other side of the grill). I have renamed him Legolas which is a character in the Lords of the Rings trilogy because I thought that he looks very alert and his ears are standing up just like an elf.

I have not tried bonding them again due to my Girls bout with GI stasis. But the other night while Abraham is out to play, I was playing with Morticia and she slipped out of her cage. She ran up to Lego and smelled him. And he smelled her back. So everything was ok and I thought 'Are they finally gonna bond??'.

The answer to my question is negative and before I can blink my eye or shout 'Yay!' they were at each other's throat and fur was flying about!! I quickly separated them and had to monitor my Girl to see if she will get Stasis again. Lucky she is ok.

A week later I was stroking Lego and i found a hard lump on his side. Further inspection shows 2 bite marks scabs which is caused by Morty's teeth. And I didn't notice!! I was too busy fussing over Morty I did not see that he was bleeding!! Aiz... I feel so bad that he got injured yet did not show it. He is really a good boy. My girl... Sigh...

Sorry Didi, mommy will fuss over you more ok??

Gut Stasis Again!!

Backlog...

Finally its time to blog about the illness that every rabbit owner dread. GI Stasis or Gut Stasis (read it here).

The rabbit's stomach is very delicate and they constantly have to have food in their stomach to keep it moving. This is why rabbits are constantly eating and pooping. They also cannot vomit so are unable to get rid of the fur that they are constantly ingesting due to grooming. When rabbits have Gut Stasis, their stomach system shuts down and food and fur is unable to be passed out of their body causing a massive jam and will lead to death sometimes in a matter of hours. That was also one of the cause of my Baobei's death (of course he had other illnesses which lead to the Stasis - doc suspect liver cancer).

So naturally I was extra careful now with my 2 current bunnies. In January, while trying to bond them, they had a massive fight so I quickly separated them. The next day, I realise that my Girl has lost her appetite and I could hear loud noises coming from her stomach area (gas which is very painful). As it is already night time, I almost did not sleep the whole night with her and in the morning, I called the vet (my regular vet and not the one who saw my Baobei) and brought her there. Their schedule was full but I insisted that she needs to see my Girl and I will wait there until she can see me. The doc confirms that she has gas and prescribed painkillers and drugs to get her stomach moving again. Plus Critical Care which is emergency feed for bunnies.

We went home and I tried to feed her the critical care but it was so disgusting!! The smell made me lose my appetite as well. No wonder my Girl refuse to eat it and struggled while I try to force feed her with a syringe.

This happens for a few days with me not sleeping most nights giving her critical care, water and also massaging her stomach. As she hates the Critical Care, I bought her organic baby food and also baby juice. She preferred the juice but there was not much improvement (no appetite and no poo) and I was getting really worried.

On the 3rd or 4th day, finally she pooped out this small mess. It was a really smelly poo. Den after that it was small poo and finally she was ok!! My Girl made it through the stasis!! I am lucky coz a lot of bunnies do not. Now I am quite paranoid and will listen to her stomach two or three times a day before I go to work and when I come back home. Crazy mama...

I suspect that it is because of the fight and she became stress so it caused her the Stasis so I am not bonding her with my boy now. Their enclosure remains the same but I am not letting them out together.

I would like to thanks Dr Chan from Namly Clinic for taking time to see her and most of all Adeline from HRSS for the advise on how to take care of Morticia. Many many thanks!!

Black & White Collection 1

One of the things in my black and white bunny collection. More to come... Actually there are more bunny stuff out there but I choose to get Black and White to compliment my two babies.

The Pee Pee Strikes Again

Backlog...

After the bout of having my girl sleep beside me every night, there had been no pee pee incidents - accidental or intentional - until...

This happened a few days after I got Abraham. She must be very jealous of him and she's doing this to 'claim' me again. Sigh... Meimei... Mummy still love you more than Didi...

Bias... Bias... Bias... Yes I admit it myself.

I was quite angry at first for this but after looking at her I was like... Forget it... She's my honey bunny (I call her that coz she looks like a honey bear when she is standing). She's just letting me know how she feels. HAHA!! Excuses!! I bet I will be those mom who pamper her kids, as if I am gonna have any, and let them do whatever they want even if it irritates the hell out of the rest of the world. Oh no!! Please dun make me such a mom... Aiz... Forget it, its ok even if I will be such a mom... Wahaha!!

Strangely after this incident she did not do it again and she also did not want to play with me so much. Also I am a little sad coz my girl is no longer sleeping beside me at night. It stopped the night I got Abraham. Maybe she thinks I dun love her anymore so I am being very bias now. Sayang her more than Abraham when I am home. I am a bad mom!! But sigh... I think its too late and I lost my girl again...

I bought this dog bed for my girl very cheaply from Pets Station at Jurong Point. Only $8. Its of cheap quality and its only for fun to see if she would sleep on it beside me as the floor is quite cold at night. She promptly peed on it and shredded it. I guess I got my answer.

Meimei... Why you so naughty?? Sigh... Want mummy to puke blood is it?? Aiyah... Forget it lar... Get you a new one when you are done with this.

Bonding Day 18

Backlog...

I dunno what's up with my girl and Abraham. After a few weeks together, they are still not getting along. At times they seems like they are getting along but at the wink of the eye they would be at each others throat.

It seems that my girl is not ready to accept a new partner yet. She tolerates Abraham being there and can even lie beside him but will run away when he tries to sniff her butt (dun laugh that's what rabbits do to get acquainted).

Also there is still the problem of sharing food. Abraham still growls when people try to get close to his food at chow time. So I guess I will wait a bit longer to decide.

Anyhow I think most prob I will keep Abraham even though they dun seem to click yet. Getting a little attached now. My sis in law loves him too. HAHA!!

Bonding Day 4

Today is the 4th day of the bunnies bonding. Yesterday night there was the usual scratching and biting through the cage. But I think it is improving. Each time they eye each other, they will fight. But after a few scratches, one or the other kinda got bored and will walk away. I found that Abraham dares to lie at the side or Morty's cage but Morty usually lie with her butt towards him I hope it means they are accepting each other. I will wait and see.

Taken this morning before work and after some scratching.

Last night, Morty was very very manja. Sleeping with me all the way. So sweet. :op I think she knows now that I love her all along.

The Bond(ing) Disaster

This is the 3rd day since I brought the adopted bunny Abraham home and it has been a disaster!! The bunnies are fighting like mad and my girl is not happy at all with the new arrangement. :o(

It all started on Saturday. I brought my princess to the fosterer Jawskie's place to 'matchmake' my girl to 3 of his adoptables. Jawskie had posted an unmoderated adoption notice on HRSS's forum and I contacted him to see if we can arrange a meet-up for our bunnies. He had rescued them from an abandoned eco-centre where they had been living in very very horrible circumstances. We made an appointment and agreed that if it does not work out, I can bring the bunny back to Jawskie's place.

At first we put Morty with Toby for about 5 minutes. Everything was ok until the end when there was some foot thumping. Den we put Abraham with her. Everything seems fine. At last we put the final bunny Samson with her. There was also some foot thumping so in the end we felt that Abraham is the most promising. So we brought them home together. During the car ride, all was well but that was when all the happy times ended.

Immediately after they got home, they started fighting. Morty was super pissed about Abraham and started attacking him. Abraham attacked her back and all hell broke loose!! I separated them into 2 enclosures. Morty in her cage with Stewy doll and Abraham in an enclosure beside her. They started attacking each other through the grill and will stop if I scolded them. If Abraham walked pass her cage door she would rush over and try to attack him and vice versa.

Once I climbed over into the enclosure and sayang Morty. Den I went to sayang Abraham but forgot to shut her door. She sneaked over through a small hole and attacked him biting a huge chunk of hair off his back!! That was when I decided to half Abraham's enclosure so that he will not pass her door.

After that starts the non-stop attacking through the grill and at night too. I had a sleepless night. On Sunday I was thinking if I had made the wrong choice as I find that Abraham is very jittery and there are war scars on him. When he is eating and I try to pat him, he will growl so I assume that food must be scarce where he was stranded at before. I proceeded to feed them and they started to fight through the grill again very very violently. I tried to stop them by scolding but no use. I put my hand in to stop them and WHAM!! My girl bit me by mistake. I let out a yelp and she stop halfway and stared at me. I scolded her and said 'Meimei!! You bit mummy's hands!! I'm bleeding now and it hurts!!' She look a bit embarrassed and quickly went to sit in a corner and looked at me with a 'I'm sorry' look (I know anyone reading this must think I am crazy for thinking this but I swear that rabbits understand humans and they know when they are at fault. They are very smart).

Ever since then they fight through the grill all the time. I sms Adeline and told her about it and she must be thinking 'I asked you to think properly first but you did not listen, now see what is happening' coz she did advised me before to think if this is what I want and what I think is best for Morty. But I see that she is so lonely everyday so I thought I should get her a new friend. She asked me how can I be so irresponsible and return a bunny I think is not suitable. If I already said I want to adopt den I have to accept it no matter good or bad. But... I have not committed. This is what has been agreed on with Jawskie. I think he knows that there might be problems too. He did not mention about the problems with the bunnies at first and only gave me his blog about them this morning when I asked him to described their characters and about the war scar and if they are solitary rabbits. I asked questions I should have asked on Saturday itself. After reading his blog, I find that Abraham is quite problematic and Toby has been returned before. After chatting with him on MSN, I found that he had expected Abraham to be returned too. After their scary past, they are quite traumatised.

I don't want to return him coz I think he is quite cute and I pity his past. But if he cannot get along with my girl, I will have to return him. Also I am afraid that when they start to share food, he might turn nasty when my girl goes and share his food with him. I know I am selfish but to me I feel that my girl is more important to me at the moment. AH!! I am a bad person!!!

My Sweet Princess

This post is dedicated to my Sweet Princess Morticia. When I bought her 6 years ago, it was so that she could accompany my Baobei. Because she has very bad attitude (growling and attacking anyone that goes near), everyone loves Baobei more than her. I must admit that I am guilty of the crime too. Everyday I would love and kiss my Baobei but will approach her with caution. Although I love and kiss her too, I know that deep in my heart I love Baobei more.

I think she can feel it too and instead of being nice, she decided that she will remain as she is. Snapping at everyone and peeing on my mattress now and again which made me angry at her. But I did not dislike her. After Baobei crossed the rainbow bridge, we suddenly find ourselves together. Just the two of us. We want to comfort each other but we do not know how.

I try to be very very gentle with her (not that I was very harsh with her before) but she seems to reject me. No matter what I do she gets angry. Whenever I try to sayang her she growls. Whenever I miss Baobei, she pisses on my mattress!! Which is once every 2 days and sometimes everyday!! And I get very angry (coz I will get scolding from my grandma who does the washing) but I don't want to blame her or scold her as I know that she must be very lonely too now that she is all alone. I want her to know that I love her too.

My next thought is to adopt or buy a new bunny to be her friend. After scouting around, I find some suitable bunnies and also was rejected a few times. But she seems to know too and I think she feels angry that I am looking for a new rabbit. Maybe she thinks that I do not love her and after getting the new rabbit I will push her aside. So she pisses on my mattress more!! Her record is 3 times per night and once even on me!!

After getting some encouragement from Adeline of HRSS, I tried to carry and 'groom' her which she seems to enjoy but she hates the process of being carried. Of me reaching into the cage to 'get' her. Also during her nightly run of the room, she would hide under the bed or be in her cage not coming out at all. Den one day I woke up in the middle of the night and realised that she was sleeping by the foot of my mattress. I was very surprised. I tried to get up in middle of the night again the next day and it was the same. Could it be that she wants to get to know me but she is shy thats why she chooses night time when the lights are off and when I am asleep?? I stroked her a few times and she ran away.

Of course by this time I really want to adopt or buy a new rabbit coz I think that she is very lonely thats why she keeps peeing on me but Adeline says that maybe she loves me very much so she wants to mark me as her property. That got me thinking... Could it be that whenever she knows I misses Baobei, she pees on my mattress to tell me that 'HEY!! You still got me!! Get a hang of yourself!!'. Could it be so that I will notice that I still got a baby girl.

Two days ago, on Christmas Eve, I decided to sleep with my head at the foot of the mattress instead. And in the middle of the night, I woke up to see her sitting beside my mattress staring at me!! My Princess!! I think she loves me!! I sayang her back and on Christmas night it happened again. This time I woke up to to kiss her and to stroke her. I think we understand each other more now. I will try my best and I hope that she does the same.

I am bringing her for matchmaking on Saturday. And I might even buy a bunny coz I fell in love with a poor boy in the shop who has been there for months and nobody wants him. I hope she can find a new friend but hope that she will still let me love her when her new friend is here.

Dry Dandelion

While at the pet shop one day to get the new bottle for Meimei, I saw this.

Dried Dandelion from Sanko Sun Farm which is rumoured to be good for the bunny liver. If only I knew... I would have bought it instead of trying to plant it and my Baobei might get a chance to eat it... :o(

Baobei Stewy's Shrine

I have cleared a shelve on my bookcase as a shrine for my Baobei. I want to decorate it but I don't have time yet. At the moment, I have his urn there on top of a porcelain platter, a fairy guarding it and some bunny friends and a porcelain pumpkin. I also put his x-ray on the bottom covered with green felt.

I am planning to embroider a meadow scene for the back of the shrine so that it will be a happy scene of his effigy in the middle of a meadow. I will take a photo when it is complete.

It is very coincidental because my cousin and I saw one of those 'egg machine' where you put $1 or $2 in and turn a knob and out comes a plastic 'egg' that has a surprise inside. This machine specialises in plastic animals and there were rabbits too. So I said lets try 2 times. I wanna get the rabbit. And I got it on my second try!! Very rare actually!! HAHA!! We were so happy we were jumping around in the mall.

Also coincidental is the fact that I got a white rabbit with dark brown spots. I immediately thought of Sorbet, the bunny I wanted to adopt but did not get. And I told my cousin. Hey I din get the real one so they gave me a doll instead. HAHA!!

A good friend Yu also contributed to the Bunny Friends by giving me a porcelain brown bunny.

Thanks to all!!
